**** Adult Education is accepting applications to fill for the 2026-2027 School Year, School Success Program Assistant (Community and Career Outreach Coordinator).
Hours/Location: flexible work schedule to serve multiple programs at different sites and time (including some evenings and Saturdays as needed)
Summary: To coordinate with community partners and oversee the implementation pathway programming in Minneapolis Adult education. To track the progress and report outcomes in the SID and WorkForceOne databases. To support satellite locations and troubleshoot operational issues as they arise. To act as the contact person for agencies/organizations looking to develop career pathways in partnership with MPS Adult Education. To promote and market career pathway opportunities both internally and externally. To support career pathway instructors with curriculum resources.. This position reports directly to the Site Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Career Pathways
- Strategy 1.1: Serve as the contact person for agencies/organizations looking to develop career pathways in partnership with MPS Adult Education (City of Minneapolis, DEED, Hennepin County, CareerForce and Community Partners)
- Strategy 1.2: Build partnerships for programming that supports specific and targeted career outcomes
- Strategy 1.3: Develop partnerships, under the guidance of the Program Manager, that enhance career pathway opportunities for our learners
- Strategy 1.4: Monitor and track the progress of learners enrolled in career pathway courses
- Strategy 1.5: Connecting career pathway participants to next steps including post-secondary education, pre-apprenticeship opportunities and
- Strategy 1.6: Coordinate career pathway curriculum development bridging the gap between what MPSAE offers and what employers need
- Strategy 1.7: Work with MPS and outside agencies to develop viable pathways to post secondary institutions
- Strategy 1.8: Provide curriculum resources and serve as workforce development subject matter expert to career pathways instructors
- Strategy 1.9: Schedule career pathway offerings in coordination with Site Supervisors
- Partnerships
- Strategy 2.1: Attend all partnership meetings and participate on various boards pertaining to career pathways
- Strategy 2.2: Participate in local career fairs to ensure that we are matching the needs of our learners with the needs of employers
- Strategy 2.3: Ensure that staff at satellite locations have the resources they need to effectively deliver career pathway programming
- Strategy 2.4: Provide ABE support, resources, and trouble shooting consortium members looking to grow their career pathways program
- Community Outreach
- Strategy 3.1 Identifies and executes community outreach activities to help promote Adult Ed and recruit students, volunteers and community resource partnerships
- Strategy 3.2 Provides program information to community organizations and members
- Strategy 3.3 Acts as contact/point person for interested parties
- Administrative Support
- Provides general office and administrative support to Adult Education program.
- Provides computer and networking support to students and staff as needed.
- Assists in administrative functions, including registration, testing, and maintaining records.
- Assists with a variety of Adult Education programs, student services, community services, special assignments, and special events.
- Onboard new LSS staff on information systems pertinent to performing their duties
- Communicates with learners, and staff to convey pertinent information while maintaining confidentiality of personal information.
- Comfortable using technology to organize and deliver school programs and services.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Service, Psychology, or a related field; AND three (3) years of demonstrated educational support experience in an urban educational environment, including group facilitation and conflict resolution; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
- Knowledge of local community resources and community services programs
- Knowledge of workforce development best practices
- Experience working with community partners and managing projects
- Principles of record keeping and records management.
- Successful experience, working with adults in an education setting
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bilingual (especially Spanish, Somali, Oromo)
- Experience working with online learning platforms, and with students with low digital literacy skills
- Ability to effectively address issues related to learner persistence and overcoming barriers
- Experience in Adult Basic Education programming
- Experienced and comfortable with advising adult learners
- Familiarity with the Adult Education student management system
- Experience working with community partners, and connecting adults to employment resources
