SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Senior Officer of Operations, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Facilities Maintenance and Operations, managing assigned staff, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Responsible for planning and coordinating custodial and building services, directing labor utilization and scheduling, and supervising maintenance activities across various trades such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and more. The position also includes budget preparation and supervision, contract approval, staff training and development, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Additionally, the role resolves operational issues and maintains expertise in assigned areas to promote the efficient and effective delivery of services.

Oversee the daily operations of Facilities Maintenance and Operations, including the supervision of staff across multiple maintenance areas, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and standards.

Manage and supervise skilled craft maintenance and technical staff in various disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and safety systems, ensuring efficient operations and quality outcomes.

Plan, coordinate, and supervise district-wide custodial and building services, ensuring alignment with district goals and operational needs.

Oversees the management of the district's grounds maintenance and landscaping program.

Assists with the development of energy management initiatives and maintenance and monitoring of energy-using systems and equipment.

Oversee the management of appropriate warehousing and supply inventory.

Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance goals, objectives, work standards, and policies/procedures to optimize plant operations and ensure effective service delivery.

Oversee labor utilization, work control, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure projects and daily tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

Prepare, manage, and supervise the departmental budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively and approving contracts for special services as needed.

Monitor and analyze operational performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, developing action plans to address performance gaps and ensuring continuous improvement.

Actively participate in design reviews and inspections of new construction and renovation projects to ensure alignment with district standards and operational needs.

Ensure staff follow safety protocols, quality standards, and compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.

Address and resolve staff inquiries and complaints, performing regular inspections to verify work quality and conformance to specifications.

Provide staff training on work procedures, develop skills, administer disciplinary actions when necessary, and conduct performance evaluations to maintain high standards.

Communicate effectively with administrators, staff, and external organizations to coordinate activities, resolve conflicts, and exchange information.

Contribute to the improvement of service delivery by offering suggestions and participating in team activities aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.

Maintain expertise in assigned maintenance areas, staying current with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to guide program development.

Develop long- and short-term plans and policy determinations to support the strategic direction and goals of the Facilities Maintenance and Operations department.

Foster a collaborative, productive, and respectful work environment, promoting positive interactions among staff, students, visitors, and MPS personnel.

Directs the management of all records for the maintenance and operations unit.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and district policies governing plant operations.

Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive work-related issues, records, and MPS information at all times.

Be available to work outside regular business hours, including evenings or weekends, as necessary to meet the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Facility Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or Public Administration, or related field; AND
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in managing facilities maintenance operations, one (1) year of which was in a supervisory/managerial role;
- OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
