SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs general carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings, wooden structures, furniture and fixtures; repairs and maintains buildings and structures according to job specifications and building codes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Knowledge of:
- Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in carpentry projects.
- Federal and state safety rules and regulations, including OSHA requirements.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Techniques for repairing and maintaining buildings and structures.
- Local, state and Federal building codes, standards and regulations.
- Environmentally responsible and resource-efficient building techniques.
- Mathematics principles sufficient to estimate labor and material costs for planned projects.
Skill in:
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.
- Understanding and applying the full range of principles, regulations, procedures and quality standards for carpentry projects.
- Following safety precautions and safe work practices, and maintaining safety standards.
- Reading and understanding plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Calculating mathematical problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
- Following verbal and written instructions.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed indoors and outdoors at MPS facilities; requires constant physical efforts; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed including use of safety equipment; a job in this category may require walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
