SUMMARY

Under general supervision, assists program coordinator with daily operations and management of programs, and special events. Work with the community and staff to promote Life-Long learning for all residents. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 

  • Assists students and site coordinators in a variety of CEP programs including, Youth and Adult Enrichment programs, Access services (serving adults with disabilities) and youth programs support. 
  • Create and support adult enrichment classes, adults with disabilities, online registration systems, community and family events, workshops, and training programs. 
  • Assists CE teachers and staff providing daily program operations; evaluates and analyzes program issues, and recommends and implements solutions; assists teachers with managing classroom, materials.
  • Assists students in learning processes; reinforces positive school and community climate, encourages socialization and good communications.
  • Assists with a variety of Community Education and school programs, student services, community services, special assignments, and special events.
  • Assists in administrative functions, including budgets, revenue and expenses, payroll, and financial reports; requisitions supplies and equipment; coordinates ongoing inventories, and maintains records.
  • Assists and manages data and reporting systems; program teacher and student evaluations, contracts,  customer services and compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Promotes and markets CE programs, develops promotional media, flyers, e-marketing, and public service announcements; participates in community outreach programs and promotes MPS Community Education Programs (CEP).
  • Promotes lifelong learning and participation in community programs to enhance the quality of life.
  • Communicates with community members, parents, students and staff to convey pertinent information while maintaining confidentiality of personal information.
  • Comfortable using technology to organize and deliver community programs and services.
  • Provides general office and administrative support for assigned programs.
  • Provides great customer service to community members, school staff, students’, parents and or guardians, answers questions, and explains program to community.  Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment 

 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

One of the following:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Education or closely related area
  • Completed 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits from an accredited institution
  • A passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment AND either a high school diploma or a GED certificate (For more information on the ParaPro Assessment, contact Educational Testing Service at 1-800-772-9476 or www.ets.org/parapro)

AND

Two (2) years of professional experience working with children.

Skill in:

  • Understanding and applying CEP program standards and procedures, applicable Federal and state rules and regulations, and MPS policies and procedures.
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Administering educational and school support programs.
  • Identifying problems and opportunities, and developing solutions.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of assigned staff.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.

 

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver’s License may be required. First Aid, CPR, and AED training is required within one year of hire. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training may be required within one year of hire, based on assignment.
