Job Summary:
This position performs specialized accounting functions for assigned department or site, including monitoring budgets and expenditures, submitting POLFs (position online forms), Budget Tie Out support, balancing accounts, processing purchase orders and payments, grant fund accounting, reconciling bank statements, journal entries and corrections and processing employee timesheets and payroll information.
This position participates in research and analysis of special projects, summarizes data and generates reports. It will also maintain detailed accounting and bookkeeping records and filing systems; verify and enter data into computer system; code documents, process transactions and update accounts. Receipt and verification of invoices and purchases through computer system is required.
Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two years of experience in accounting. Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business is preferred.
Experience Required:
* Application of accounting and budgeting principles and methods, including grant and special fund procedures;
* understanding of MPS and state agency accounting software applications;
* strong attention to detail, record keeping and record management and;
* strong computer skills that utilize standard and specialized software applications.
