POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Nursing District Program Facilitator 1.0 FTE

Nursing District Program Facilitators will provide guidance, leadership and technical support to schools and health office staff. Assistance provided to schools and health office staff will align with the core beliefs of the Professional Practice Model (PPM). Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Nursing, the DPF will coordinate MPS Nursing Services (NS) Programs to meet the needs of MPS students; coordinate the delivery of quality nursing services in school health offices in MPS and contracted schools, in compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, and MPS regulations.

ADAPTIVE SKILLS REQUIRED: We are seeking candidates who possess demonstrated leadership skills within a school/district environment. Qualified candidates should advocate for student health, convey innovative ideas to health office teams, provide strong interpersonal communication skills, utilize problem solving skills effectively, and guide teams towards equitable, evidence based health practices.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Nursing

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; valid Registered Nurse license, Public Health Nurse license and current licensure in MN as a Licensed School Nurse.
  • Prefer 5 years of successful Licensed School Nurse (LSN) experience in an urban, multicultural educational setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists the Director of Nursing in implementing and monitoring comprehensive school Nursing Services (NS) programs in compliance with state and Federal regulations, and provides a safe and healthy learning environment for NS students.
  • Provides leadership and accountability for NS and other school health programs serving MPS students; assists in coordinating the work of Nurses and administrative staff.
  • Aids in the interpretation and enforcement of policies and development of procedures, and assures the consistent interpretation and application of Federal, state and MPS rules and regulations.
  • Meets with staff on an as needed basis to discuss and resolve schedules, priorities, workload, critical concerns and technical issues; assures that appropriate services are provided, and goals are defined and achieved.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing to develop priorities and assign tasks and projects; develop staff skills and train staff on NS programs, policies and strategies; coordinates the training and cross-training of MPS staff on NS issues, communicable diseases and infection control.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing with strategic planning and needs assessments; identifies staffing and program needs and priorities.
  • Supports the Director of Nursing in managing budgets and expenditures, according to district policies and state laws.
  • Collects and compiles data to evaluate and monitor health conditions; researches issues and provides consultation on specific NS Program issues; develops and presents reports on issues and solutions.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
  • Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
  • At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

School environment; may involve lifting up to 40 pounds; and the ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.

Salary: 42 week – Teacher Salary Schedule, MFT local 59
